How art anchors us in the present: A reflection with my latest watercolor
The thing about art is that it pulls us into the exact present moment of our life. Whether we’re creating or simply appreciating, art demands our full attention. It invites us to let go of distractions and immerse ourselves in what is—right here, right now. And in that stillness, it does something extraordinary: it captures the essence of that moment.
Each brushstroke, color choice, or creative decision becomes a record of who we are in that precise slice of time. That’s the magic of art—it’s not just about the final product but the act of being fully present in its creation.
Attached is a little watercolor I did recently. It’s a simple piece, but every line and wash of color feels like a reflection of the moment I was in. For me, that’s the beauty of making art—it becomes a time capsule of feelings, thoughts, and the subtle energy of now.
What about you? Have you ever felt this sense of presence through art—whether creating it or simply being moved by it?
