When we don’t know what we’re doing, our brain hooks up to higher wisdom
I once heard Terry Gross interview the celebrated filmmaker David Lynch interviewed on her program, NPR’s Fresh Air. Gross asked Lynch something about what he does when he makes a movie and Lynch responded, “When I work on a movie, I don’t really know what I’m doing.”
I loved hearing that.
When the amazing David Lynch makes a movie, he doesn’t really know what he’s doing. And yet his movies are fantastic. 😱
Hmmm…. does that mean that creative brilliance comes from NOT knowing?
Maybe not having any idea what we’re doing works out better than we could ever plan. In those moments of uncertainty, we might actually be at our best—tapped into a deeper wisdom beyond our thinking mind.
Perhaps not knowing isn’t a limitation…. it is the essence of creativity. 🌟
